A Garden Romance at Michigan Central: Sean & Antonia's Wedding

Some venues ask you to meet them halfway. Michigan Central Station asks you to rise to the occasion entirely.

When Sean and Antonia chose Detroit's newly restored beaux-arts landmark as their backdrop, every design decision that followed had to honor the architecture — the soaring arched windows, the vaulted ceilings, the century of history embedded in every stone column. What emerged was one of the most layered, romantic tablescapes we have had the privilege of being part of.

The Palette: Garden Blooms in a Grand Hall

The floral direction from J. Costello Designs set the tone for everything. Coral garden roses, blue delphinium, purple lisianthus, and white blooms were woven together into lush centerpieces that felt simultaneously wild and refined — a garden brought indoors and asked to perform at the highest level.

That palette informed every linen and charger choice we made. The goal was to complement the florals without competing with them, and to let the architecture breathe.

The LUXE Tablescapes

White linen banquet tables anchored the room, clean and classic against the warm stone of Michigan Central's grand hall. Cross-back chairs from Detroit Chiavari added an organic, gathered warmth that softened the formality of the space without diminishing it.

Each place setting featured a gold-rimmed charger plate from our collection, paired with a lavender napkin and a blue water goblet — a nod to the floral palette that carried through from centerpiece to place card. The coral garden rose resting on each menu card, designed by J. Costello Designs, made every seat feel personally considered.

The Ceremony

The ceremony space within Michigan Central was nothing short of cathedral-like. A floral aisle of peach, blue, and blush blooms led to an altar framed by the station's iconic arched windows — natural light pouring in behind the couple as they exchanged vows.

The Details That Made It

The details of this wedding were extraordinary at every turn. Badgley Mischka pearl-embellished bridal heels sat beside a vibrant pastel bouquet — a quiet, personal moment captured beautifully by the photography team. A white rosette wedding cake on a lavender satin linen table anchored the dessert corner, and the couple's cake cutting was one of those joyful, unscripted moments that photographs remember better than memory does.

The Full Room

Seeing a room come together from above — or from the back of the hall — is one of the most rewarding moments in event design. The full room view of Sean and Antonia's reception showed exactly what happens when every vendor brings their best: the linens, the florals, the chairs, the lighting, the ketubah display, the live musicians, and the guests all occupying the same extraordinary space together.

Michigan Central is a venue that has waited a long time to host moments like this one. We are grateful to have been part of it.
